An unexpectedly hard shot by Joel Gaona in the 21st minute of play forced Guarei FC's goalkeeper Armando Ruano to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Armando Ruano didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Joel Gaona went, in the 21st minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. Mexico's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Joel Gaona in the 28th minute. When Mexico's Lautaro Mancebo in the 29th minute got a chance for a shot 29th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Guarei FC's goalie prevented a goal. Armando Ruano made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Joel Gaona in the 31st minute of play. Armando Ruano took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Joel Gaona, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Mexico's Dante Lacasa proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 36th minute of the match, managed to save Mexico from getting a goal against them. Dante Lacasa made an important save on a dangerous shot by Luiz Eduardo Nunes in the 41st minute. Joel Gaona blasted a shot towards the goal in the 43rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Armando Ruano having to make a save. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Betinho Ferreira to strike the kick off in the second half. Guarei FC's Armando Ruano proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 51st minute of the match, managed to save Guarei FC from getting a goal against them. With a little luck, Guarei FC's Armando Ruano got control of the ball when Lautaro Mancebo tried to sneak it across the goal line. Luca Zorita sent away a hard shot on goal in the 57th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Dante Lacasa came out of the goal in the 61st minute to try and stop a shot by Guarei FC's Betinho Ferreira. But to his dismay, Betinho Ferreira quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. Diguinho Rossi's late challenge caught a Mexico's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Diguinho Rossi helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Guarei FC getting a freekick after 64 minutes play. Diguinho Rossi hit a great ball. Joel Gaona received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 71st minute. Armando Ruano tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Guarei FC's Kauan de Senna was substituted for Luiz Eduardo Nunes. Guarei FC's Macky Mackenzie was substituted for Thomás Moura. 75 minutes into the match, Guarei FC's goalkeeper Armando Ruano had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Lautaro Mancebo. After 77 played minutes Mexico got a freekick which was hit by Felix Luque. If Kauan de Senna had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 80th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 87th minute, Betinho Ferreira left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Guarei FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-1. The supporters of Guarei FC booed when Mexico was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 90 match minutes in a wonderful position. Facundo Cadaval didn't get a good kick on the ball. 95 minutes into the match, Guarei FC's goal looked a bit too open when Lautaro Mancebo came free, but Armando Ruano reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Guarei FC's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
