The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Alan Moruga during the 31st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 31 played minutes Costa Rica got a freekick which was hit by Alan Moruga. 33 minutes into the match, Costa Rica's goalkeeper Benito Sanz had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by 高然川. After a rather tough play, Costa Rica's Aaron Alcocer got a free kick in the 35th minute. Lautaro Puig received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 43rd minute. 秦霖星 tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Juan Rubio kicked well hit freekick during the 44th minute of the match. After 46 played minutes Costa Rica got a freekick which was hit by Abel Carballo. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Benito Sanz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from 高然川, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 87th minute, Juan Rubio hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 马骏鹰 hit a great freekick 89 minutes into the match. In the 92nd minute, Axel Tasis hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 95th minute, Axel Tasis ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. 秦霖星 was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-3. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Costa Rica walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
