Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 33 minutes into the match, Club Atletico Rio Tercero's goalkeeper Alvar Öberg had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Felix Montenegro. Felix Montenegro received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Alvar Öberg came out and tried to block the shot, but Felix Montenegro slotted it home off the left post making it 2-0 in the 33rd minute. Alvar Öberg showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Daniel Zorita in the 41st minute of the match. Alejandro Jerrald fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Julio Vera having to interfere. Fred Karlsson hit a great freekick 46 minutes into the match. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.

The wind increased when Jacobo Mark made the kick off in the second half. Daniel Zorita received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 56th minute. Alvar Öberg didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ecuador. Marcelo Eladio kicked well hit freekick during the 74th minute of the match. Julio Vera made an important save on a dangerous shot by Fred Karlsson in the 77th minute. Alvar Öberg showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cristian Sancho, who was totally free with the ball in the 78th minute. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jacobo Mark in the 88th minute of the match. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Ecuador fully deserved thier win.
