An unexpectedly hard shot by Edmundo Espiga in the 27th minute of play forced Inter de Melão's goalkeeper Claudio-Paul Taffarel to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Lautaro Navarro showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ernesto Farias in the 29th minute of the match. Luca Espinar received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 31st minute. Claudio-Paul Taffarel tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 43rdth minute of the game Edmundo Espiga who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Inter de Melão's Claudio-Paul Taffarel was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Claudio-Paul Taffarel made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Edmundo Espiga in the 46th minute of play. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Edmundo Espiga stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Claudio-Paul Taffarel made a fantastic save in the 66th minute, when Sebastian Villa sent off a good shot on target. 68 minutes into the match, Inter de Melão's goalkeeper Claudio-Paul Taffarel had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Edmundo Espiga. In the 71st minute Inter de Melão were awarded a corner. Delfim Paraense went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner ended in Fabinho Valladares almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Honduras's Lautaro Navarro did a great save. Edmundo Espiga could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 73rd minute of the match, but Claudio-Paul Taffarel made a huge save. Claudio-Paul Taffarel made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Edmundo Espiga in the 74th minute of play. When Edmundo Espiga came up free with the goalie in the 78th minute, the Honduras fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Edmundo Espiga couldn't finish the play. Moises Tafalla received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 79th minute. Claudio-Paul Taffarel tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Honduras's Sebastian Villa got a good chance for a goal in the 82nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Moises Tafalla sent away a hard shot on goal in the 89th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Lautaro Navarro took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tobias Zachrisson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Honduras were unable to convert their possession into goals, allowing Inter de Melão to leave the ground with a draw.
