In the 14th minute, Saivis Rentovics ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Julio Vera was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-1. Ecuador's Julio Vera proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 21st minute of the match, managed to save Ecuador from getting a goal against them. In the 22nd minute of the match, Saivis Rentovics got a very nice opportunity to score, but Julio Vera was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. 楚笑霖 stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Daniel Zorita's shot from short distance in the 23rd minute. After having played for 25 minutes, Felix Montenegro managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Felix Montenegro was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 27th minute Cristian Sancho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but 楚笑霖 saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Cristian Sancho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 30th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without 楚笑霖 having to interfere. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 2-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Saivis Rentovics was the one to do the kick off. Arsenal FC made a substitution. 龙阳升 replaced 钱弘鹰. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Arsenal FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 90 match minutes in a wonderful position. Saivis Rentovics didn't get a good kick on the ball. Cristian Sancho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 93rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without 楚笑霖 having to interfere.
