The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 14 minutes had been played when some careless play by Ecuador's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. In the 17th minute, Cristian Sancho left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Ecuador fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. Ubarna Marcos who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 25thth minute tested the skills of Julio Vera when he managed to save the team from getting behind. An unexpectedly hard shot by Daniel Zorita in the 28th minute of play forced ☣ⓇⓄⒸⓀⒺⓉ   -⃝ⓅⓄⓌⒺⓇ☣'s goalkeeper Clemente Savier to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ecuador were awarded a corner in the 29th minute after ☣ⓇⓄⒸⓀⒺⓉ   -⃝ⓅⓄⓌⒺⓇ☣'s defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Daniel Zorita took the corner. Isadoro Lurquín thought of kicking away a contribution in front of goal but messed it up so badly that the ball went to the right of an astonished Clemente Savier, a very annoying self made goal in the 30th minute which led to 0-2. 37 minutes into the game, Daniel Zorita cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-3. Clemente Savier was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After 41 played minutes Ecuador got a freekick which was hit by Juan Sebastián Puig. Elias Figueroa took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 42nd minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Julio Vera. Ecuador's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. ☣ⓇⓄⒸⓀⒺⓉ   -⃝ⓅⓄⓌⒺⓇ☣'s Clemente Savier played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniel Zorita in the 44th minute of play. The ☣ⓇⓄⒸⓀⒺⓉ   -⃝ⓅⓄⓌⒺⓇ☣ players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Ecuador were winning 0-3.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Marcelo Salas made a kick off. ☣ⓇⓄⒸⓀⒺⓉ   -⃝ⓅⓄⓌⒺⓇ☣'s Clemente Savier proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 60th minute of the match, managed to save ☣ⓇⓄⒸⓀⒺⓉ   -⃝ⓅⓄⓌⒺⓇ☣ from getting a goal against them. In the 68th minute of the match, Daniel Zorita got a very nice opportunity to score, but Clemente Savier was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. 70 minutes into the match, ☣ⓇⓄⒸⓀⒺⓉ   -⃝ⓅⓄⓌⒺⓇ☣'s goal looked a bit too open when Luis Andino came free, but Clemente Savier reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Daniel Zoritas short, quick shot in the 75thth minute got Clemente Savier to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. In the 76th minute, Cristopher Damian made a precise shot to the right of Julio Vera. Ecuador's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-3. A collision led to Ecuador getting a freekick after 79 minutes play. Agustín Saelices hit a great ball. Clemente Savier took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Agustín Saelices, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Rodrigo Barrera in the 90th minute of the match. After 91 minutes Ecuador's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Elias Figueroa who took care of the corner kick. Elias Figueroa made a great header on ☣ⓇⓄⒸⓀⒺⓉ   -⃝ⓅⓄⓌⒺⓇ☣'s corner, it was just that Ecuador's Julio Vera managed to reach the ball for a save. Clemente Savier showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristian Sancho in the 93rd minute of the match. ☣ⓇⓄⒸⓀⒺⓉ   -⃝ⓅⓄⓌⒺⓇ☣'s Cristopher Damian got a good chance for a goal in the 95th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Ecuador's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
