The throw-in from Primitivo Andino in the 10th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Scarlet Speedster's Ryszard Janiczek. If Luis Andino had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 12th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Daniel Zorita fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 15th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Naldo Proença having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Fausto Mendonça in the 17th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Julio Vera saved Ecuador from getting behind. Fausto Mendonça sent away a hard shot on goal in the 18th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. With a little luck, Ecuador's Julio Vera got control of the ball when Fausto Mendonça tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 21st minute, Fausto Mendonça made a precise shot to the right of Julio Vera. Ecuador's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-0. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Cristian Sancho in the 25th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Naldo Proença prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Fausto Mendonça might have been able to make a better finish in the 27th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Julio Vera. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Fausto Mendonça ran back to his position shaking his head. Julio Vera was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Fausto Mendonça showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 2-0 in the 29 minute of play. With a little luck, Ecuador's Julio Vera got control of the ball when Fausto Mendonça tried to sneak it across the goal line. Scarlet Speedster's Naldo Proença played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniel Zorita in the 35th minute of play. Fausto Mendonça might have been able to make a better finish in the 40th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Julio Vera. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Fausto Mendonça ran back to his position shaking his head. The audience thought a goal was coming when Fausto Mendonça got free with Julio Vera in the 40th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The audience was convinced that Daniel Zorita's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Naldo Proença was relentless in the 46th minute of the game.

The supporters of Ecuador booed when Scarlet Speedster was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 51 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tomas Wallin didn't get a good kick on the ball. Felix Montenegro shot from long distance in the 51st minute, but Naldo Proença was prepared and stopped the ball at the left post. In the 54thth minute of the game Fausto Mendonça who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Ecuador's Julio Vera was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. A collision led to Scarlet Speedster getting a freekick after 59 minutes play. Ryszard Janiczek hit a great ball. Edward Krzynowek hit a great freekick 78 minutes into the match. In the 84th match minute, Ecuador was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Primitivo Andino to maneuver through the defense. A sloppy throw-in by Primitivo Andino in the 87th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Scarlet Speedster's Edward Krzynowek. After having played for 89 minutes, Fausto Mendonça managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Scarlet Speedster's supporters crossed their fingers, but Fausto Mendonça was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Ecuador's supporters were dissatisfied at the end of the match because Scarlet Speedster had won, even though Ecuador had held more of the ball.
