Ecuador's Julio Vera proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 7th minute of the match, managed to save Ecuador from getting a goal against them. With a little luck, Ecuador's Julio Vera got control of the ball when 曾钢宁 tried to sneak it across the goal line. Cristian Sancho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 9th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mircea Calboreanu having to interfere. Daniel Zorita sent away a hard shot on goal in the 11th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The FC U Cluj-N fans' excitement grew in the 12th match minute when FC U Cluj-N's 曾钢宁 looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. With his leg Julio Vera managed to avoid a goal in the 16thth minute, when FC U Cluj-N's 曾钢宁 fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. 曾钢宁 could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 19th minute of the match, but Julio Vera made a huge save. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 26th match minute, FC U Cluj-N was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Fabian Mușetescu to maneuver through the defense. Daniel Zorita took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 26th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Mircea Calboreanu. FC U Cluj-N's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cazimir Cosor in the 29th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A collision led to FC U Cluj-N getting a freekick after 32 minutes play. Filip Trifan hit a great ball. Felix Montenegro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 33rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mircea Calboreanu having to interfere. Daniel Zorita received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 35th minute. Mircea Calboreanu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Mircea Calboreanu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Daniel Zorita, who was totally free with the ball in the 38th minute. 41 minutes into the match, 曾钢宁 notched a goal, 2-0, to the right of Ecuador's Julio Vera. Julio Vera was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. FC U Cluj-N's Mircea Calboreanu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristian Sancho in the 47th minute of play. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

Luis Andino sent away a hard shot on goal in the 53rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from 曾钢宁, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Mircea Calboreanu made an important save on a dangerous shot by Daniel Zorita in the 62nd minute. In the 64th minute, 曾钢宁 made a precise shot to the right of Julio Vera. Ecuador's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-0. In the 66th minute, Iosif Bălcescu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. FC U Cluj-N's Mihai Lăzăroiu was substituted for 曾钢宁. Ecuador were awarded a corner in the 74th minute after FC U Cluj-N's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Daniel Zorita took the corner. The corner went over the outstretched arms of FC U Cluj-N's goalie and right to Felix Montes. He fired away a shot at goal, but the shot had too much spin, and it went just outside the goal. FC U Cluj-N's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. In the 77th minute Ivan Florescu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mihai Lăzăroiu in the 78th minute of play. In the 80th minute FC U Cluj-N were awarded a corner. Cezar Coja went to the cornerflag to take it. 89 minutes into the game, Cosmin Potocianu cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 5-0. Julio Vera was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. When the referee blew the final whistle, FC U Cluj-N could leave the field as winners, despite Ecuador having more of the ball for most of the match.
