The audience thought a goal was coming when Cazimir Pătran got free with Jonathan Ferrant in the 11th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Cazimir Pătran in the 13th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jonathan Ferrant saved Venezuela from getting behind. 18 minutes into the match, Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Damian Şerb. Jonathan Ferrant took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Damian Şerb, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Jonathan Ferrant made an important save on a dangerous shot by Cazimir Pătran in the 31st minute. Romania's Radu Penescu was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Jonathan Ferrant in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Cazimir Pătrans short, quick shot in the 40thth minute got Jonathan Ferrant to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. 42 minutes into the match, Romania's Cazimir Pătran sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Jonathan Ferrant narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 44th minute, Damian Şerb got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Damian Şerb's late challenge caught a Venezuela's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Damian Şerb helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Romania getting a freekick after 55 minutes play. Damian Şerb hit a great ball. In the 59th minute Cazimir Pătran shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jonathan Ferrant saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Romania's Damian Şerb got a good chance for a goal in the 61st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Tomas Illescas kicked well hit freekick during the 64th minute of the match. The audience was convinced that Cazimir Pătran's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Jonathan Ferrant was relentless in the 65th minute of the game. The supporters of Romania booed when Venezuela was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 73 match minutes in a wonderful position. Guillermo Mariano didn't get a good kick on the ball.
