Markus Pflüger showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristian Sancho in the 5th minute of the match. With a little luck, Ecuador's Julio Vera got control of the ball when Paulo-Eduardo do Nascimento tried to sneak it across the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Daniel Zorita in the 11th minute of play forced Du Esporte Clube's goalkeeper Markus Pflüger to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Markus Pflüger took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Luis Andino, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Daniel Zorita fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 16th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Markus Pflüger having to interfere. In the 23rd minute Daniel Zorita shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Markus Pflüger saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ecuador's Cristian Sancho got a good chance for a goal in the 27th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. With a little luck, Ecuador's Julio Vera got control of the ball when 雷钢青 tried to sneak it across the goal line. Felix Montenegro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 36th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Sílvio Costa to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd minute, Ecuador's Cristian Sancho dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-1. Daniel Zorita sent away a hard shot on goal in the 56th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 61st minute, Paulo-Eduardo do Nascimento got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When Antonio Arias fell near the penalty area in the 90th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Ecuador's protests and gave Antonio Arias a yellow card for diving instead. Daniel Zorita came free with the goalkeeper in the 94th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Markus Pflüger could save by the left post. When the referee blew the final whistle, Du Esporte Clube could leave the field as winners, despite Ecuador having more of the ball for most of the match.
