The audience thought a goal was coming when Lucas Barcelos got free with Jonathan Ferrant in the 13th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Jonathan Ferrant was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Lucas Barcelos showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 2-0 in the 39 minute of play. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

After having played for 74 minutes, Nico González managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. C A U's supporters crossed their fingers, but Nico González was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 79th minute the ball was on its way in behind Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 81 minutes into the game, Tomas Illescas threw the ball into play from the sideline.
