Gaspar Bertran blasted a shot towards the goal in the 9th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Joaquin Gayoso having to make a save. 12 minutes into the game, Maximiliano Escribano recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Benito Regis. Maximiliano Escribano showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. Benito Regis took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jaime Cazalla, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Joaquin Gayoso made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Teobaldo Dantel in the 19th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Francisco Seco got free with Benito Regis in the 26th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 27 minutes into the game, Bruno Beldad was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Uruguay's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave CAÑONCITOO OO OO O !!! the free kick. A collision led to Uruguay getting a freekick after 27 minutes play. Bruno Beldad hit a great ball. The supporters of Uruguay booed when CAÑONCITOO OO OO O !!! was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 31 match minutes in a wonderful position. Everardo Quilo didn't get a good kick on the ball. Benito Regis took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jaime Cazalla, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some careless play in the Uruguay defense, Gaspar Bertran kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Joaquin Gayoso. The Uruguay fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Joaquin Gayoso should have stopped the shot. Joaquin Gayoso showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Teobaldo Dantel, who was totally free with the ball in the 42nd minute. After 44 played minutes Uruguay got a freekick which was hit by Kevin Carballal. If Anastasio Cloyo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Gaspar Bertran to make the kick off. Joaquin Gayoso showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gaspar Bertran, who was totally free with the ball in the 58th minute. The audience was convinced that Francisco Seco's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Benito Regis was relentless in the 65th minute of the game. In the 80th minute, Gaspar Bertran got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The supporters of Uruguay booed when CAÑONCITOO OO OO O !!! was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 82 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gaspar Bertran didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 87thth minute of the game Gaspar Bertran who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Uruguay's Joaquin Gayoso was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The throw-in from Guillermo Telesforo in the 89th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Uruguay's Camilo Covarrubias. An unexpectedly hard shot by Francisco Seco in the 92nd minute of play forced CAÑONCITOO OO OO O !!!'s goalkeeper Benito Regis to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 93rd minute, Maximiliano Escribano made a precise shot to the right of Benito Regis. CAÑONCITOO OO OO O !!!'s defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-1. After some fancy dribbling in the 97th minute, Jaime Cazalla managed to get in a good position for a shot. Uruguay's supporters rose to their feet, but Jaime Cazalla was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Benito Regis breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.
