Jose Hernando hit a great freekick 6 minutes into the match. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Ñacuñán AC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 6 match minutes in a wonderful position. The Ñacuñán AC fans' excitement grew in the 30th match minute when Ñacuñán AC's Elpidio Ekain looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. 34 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Elpidio Ekain.
