In the 18th minute, Cristo Verdu ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Allan Varela was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. 吴洲坚 hit a great freekick 21 minutes into the match. 22 minutes into the match, Palestra do Interior's goal looked a bit too open when Jurand Cempa came free, but Allan Varela reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 27th minute of the match, Romário Barbosa got a very nice opportunity to score, but Miroslaw Gollob was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. In the 41st minute, Margiris Nekrošius hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 44 minutes into the match, Palestra do Interior's goal looked a bit too open when Gaston Zárate came free, but Allan Varela reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Allan Varela showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Damaso Alonso in the 46th minute of the match. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Gaston Zárate made the kick off in the second half. When Zacisze Częstochowa's Cristo Verdu in the 51st minute got a chance for a shot 51st didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Miroslaw Gollob took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Romário Barbosa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 67th minute, 吴洲坚 hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Palestra do Interior's Herbert Pankowski was substituted for 吴洲坚. Palestra do Interior's Vitório Lago was substituted for Paulo Godoi. Palestra do Interior's Niclas Danielsson was substituted for Percival Cruz. The corner led Zacisze Częstochowa's Cristo Verdu to fire away a dangerous shot which Allan Varela despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Miroslaw Gollob showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Vitório Lago in the 78th minute of the match. After 81 minutes Zacisze Częstochowa's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Romário Barbosa who took care of the corner kick. After taking down the ball on Palestra do Interior's corner Romário Barbosa fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Miroslaw Gollob quite easily take care of the ball. If Vitório Lago had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 86th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead.
