Efrain Moruga charged in rather forcefully in the 13th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Efrain Moruga the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Costa Rica getting a freekick after 13 minutes play. Efrain Moruga hit a great ball. Rolando Victoro blasted a shot towards the goal in the 15th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Benito Sanz having to make a save. The supporters of Costa Rica booed when Club A. Independiente was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 16 match minutes in a wonderful position. Generoso Blai didn't get a good kick on the ball. Club A. Independiente's Gervasio Dalmai quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Hugo Ferrant, made in the 21st minute of the game. In the 22nd match minute, Costa Rica was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Lautaro Puig to maneuver through the defense. Independiente were furious when Adrian Pacifico was red carded, 30 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. 29 minutes into the game, one of Club A. Independiente:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. The excitement rose when Costa Rica's Axel Tasis after 32 played minutes turned away three defenders near the goal, and after that shot a ball that was too difficult for Club A. Independiente's goalkeeper to hold. Score! 0-2. Costa Rica's Efrain Moruga got his second yellow card of the match in the 44th minute. The referee ordered Efrain Moruga off the ground. After 46 minutes, Rolando Victoro mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Club A. Independiente and the Costa Rica players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 46 played minutes Club A. Independiente got a freekick which was hit by Rolando Victoro. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Andres Ishmael was the one to do the kick off. Alan Moruga hit a great freekick 51 minutes into the match. Lautaro Puig struck a weak shot in the 59th minute. Epifanio Havier didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Costa Rica. The supporters of Costa Rica booed when Club A. Independiente was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 60 match minutes in a wonderful position. Venancio Mirande didn't get a good kick on the ball. 63 minutes into the match, Club A. Independiente's goal looked a bit too open when Eliseo Noboa came free, but Epifanio Havier reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Lautaro Puig recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 69th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 70 minutes into the game, one of Club A. Independiente:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Saverio Astigar kicked well hit freekick during the 75th minute of the match. In the 82nd minute, Costa Rica's Aaron Alcocer ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Epifanio Havier. Epifanio Havier yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-4. In the 85th minute, Eliseo Noboa fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. 97 minutes into the match, Aaron Alcocer had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Epifanio Havier. Club A. Independiente's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Aaron Alcocer was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-5. Costa Rica's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
