After a defensive mix-up in C o n f i a n ç a - SE's zone, Daniel Zorita stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Diguinho Carioca came out of the goal and Daniel Zorita tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 3rd match minute, Ecuador was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Agustín Saelices to maneuver through the defense. In the 4th minute, Clayton Pedron got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Daniel Zorita in the 9th minute of play forced C o n f i a n ç a - SE's goalkeeper Diguinho Carioca to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Songur Ersalmış hit a great freekick 15 minutes into the match. Arthur Barbosa kicked well hit freekick during the 17th minute of the match. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Clayton Pedron in the 18th minute of play. If Cristian Sancho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 23 played minutes Ecuador got a freekick which was hit by Cristian Sancho. When the match clock showed 25 minutes, the score became 1-0 when Clayton Pedron sped through Ecuador's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Julio Vera. Julio Vera made an important save on a dangerous shot by Jeremias Maia in the 27th minute. In the 29th match minute, Ecuador was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Juan Sebastián Puig to maneuver through the defense. In the 32nd match minute, C o n f i a n ç a - SE was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Charles Capixaba to maneuver through the defense. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Clayton Pedron in the 39th minute of play. Diguinho Carioca showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cristian Sancho, who was totally free with the ball in the 42nd minute. When Jeremias Maia came up free with the goalie in the 46th minute, the C o n f i a n ç a - SE fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jeremias Maia couldn't finish the play. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

After 51 played minutes C o n f i a n ç a - SE got a freekick which was hit by Clayton Clayton. Daniel Zorita took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 52nd minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Diguinho Carioca. C o n f i a n ç a - SE's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jeremias Maia in the 55th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a little luck, C o n f i a n ç a - SE's Diguinho Carioca got control of the ball when Felix Montenegro tried to sneak it across the goal line. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Clayton Pedron in the 66th minute of play. In the 68th minute Clayton Pedron shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 73 played minutes C o n f i a n ç a - SE got a freekick which was hit by Genílson da Silva. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Diguinho Carioca made a fantastic save in the 93rd minute, when Cristian Sancho sent off a good shot on target. 94 minutes into the game, Daniel Zorita was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Ecuador's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave C o n f i a n ç a - SE the free kick.
