Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Joel Gaona to make the kick off. Mexico's supporters rose to their feet, but Lautaro Mancebo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Abraham Saleh breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Hisham Mowafak sent away a hard shot on goal in the 78th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 91st minute Bautista Elvira shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Abraham Saleh saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Mexico walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
