Tomas Illescas might have been able to make a better finish in the 5th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Albert Freitag. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Tomas Illescas ran back to his position shaking his head. 5 minutes into the match, IF Älgarna's goal looked a bit too open when Tomas Illescas came free, but Albert Freitag reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of Venezuela booed when IF Älgarna was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 7 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gabriel Hasselqvist didn't get a good kick on the ball. With a little luck, Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant got control of the ball when John Olofsson tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 18th minute, Jonny Månsson ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Jonathan Ferrant was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. 21 minutes into the match, Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Jonny Månsson. When Venezuela's Tomas Illescas in the 24th minute got a chance for a shot 24th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye IF Älgarna's goalie prevented a goal. Jonathan Ferrant stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Jonny Månsson's shot from short distance in the 26th minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when John Olofsson got free with Jonathan Ferrant in the 27th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Jonathan Ferrant showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jonny Månsson in the 36th minute of the match. In the 40th match minute, IF Älgarna was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gabriel Hasselqvist to maneuver through the defense. After 42 played minutes Venezuela got a freekick which was hit by Jose Correa. Jonny Månsson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 43rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Jonathan Ferrant made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jonny Månsson in the 45th minute of play. 45 minutes into the match, Jonny Månsson had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Jonathan Ferrant. Venezuela's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Jonny Månsson was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-0. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

If Jonny Månsson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 61st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 62nd minute John Olofsson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jonathan Ferrant saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Albert Freitag made a fantastic save in the 67th minute, when Tomas Illescas sent off a good shot on target. Tomas Illescas might have been able to make a better finish in the 69th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Albert Freitag. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Tomas Illescas ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 76th minute, Jonny Månsson ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Jonathan Ferrant was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-0. Tomas Illescas received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 83rd minute. Albert Freitag tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Albert Freitag took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tomas Illescas, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Patricio Costa hit a great freekick 86 minutes into the match. John Olofsson struck a weak shot in the 87th minute. Jonathan Ferrant didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for IF Älgarna. After 92 played minutes Venezuela got a freekick which was hit by Patricio Costa.
