The supporters of Colombia booed when San Martin de Tucuman was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 6 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ulises Dominguez didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 7th minute of the match Axel Montenegro shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Cecilio Jax showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Luciano Selmo struck a weak shot in the 11th minute. Pedro Manzanares didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for San Martin de Tucuman. In the 15th minute Carmelo Osoitz shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pedro Manzanares saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 16 minutes into the match, San Martin de Tucuman's goal looked a bit too open when Abram Sarmiento came free, but Cecilio Jax reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Jiang Jun Yang recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 23rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Colombia's Pedro Manzanares proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 24th minute of the match, managed to save Colombia from getting a goal against them. Pedro Manzanares made a fantastic save in the 25th minute, when Paulino Lamberto sent off a good shot on target. After a rather tough play, Colombia's Antonio Indiano got a free kick in the 30th minute. In the 32nd minute, Colombia's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Luciano Selmo fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. 33 minutes into the game, Luciano Selmo recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Pedro Manzanares. Luciano Selmo showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. In the 36th minute of the match, Paulino Lamberto got a very nice opportunity to score, but Pedro Manzanares was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. 40 minutes into the match, San Martin de Tucuman's goal looked a bit too open when Abram Sarmiento came free, but Cecilio Jax reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Cecilio Jax stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Abram Sarmiento's shot from short distance in the 43rd minute.
Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Abram Sarmiento to make the kick off. When Axel Montenegro came up free with the goalie in the 52nd minute, the Colombia fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Axel Montenegro couldn't finish the play. Pedro Manzanares showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Luciano Selmo in the 54th minute of the match. In the 56th match minute, San Martin de Tucuman was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Paulino Lamberto to maneuver through the defense. San Martin de Tucuman made a substitution. Marcial Munio replaced Ulises Dominguez. Cecilio Jax took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Santino Seco, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 75th minute, Colombia's Axel Montenegro dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-1. Marcial Munio sent away a hard shot on goal in the 81st minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Luciano Selmo kicked well hit freekick during the 94th minute of the match. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. San Martin de Tucuman had played much better football throughout.
