When the match clock showed 15 minutes, the score became 0-2 when Felix Montenegro sped through Juventus Telford's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Luizinho Paranaense. Ildefonso Piarres fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Julio Vera having to interfere. 28 minutes had been played when some careless play by Juventus Telford's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Daniel Zorita was slow to take the kick. During this time Ecuador's players had a chance to rest. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Boruc Spychalski in the 29th minute of play. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Boruc Spychalski, who was totally free with the ball in the 29th minute. With a little luck, Ecuador's Julio Vera got control of the ball when Ildefonso Piarres tried to sneak it across the goal line. Luizinho Paranaense took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cristian Sancho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 96 minutes of play, Juventus Telford's Kevin Hellkvist made it 1-5 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Julio Vera was left in no man's land by his defense there! Ecuador's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
