Costa Rica's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Chimborazo A.F.C the free kick. In the 2nd minute, Eliseo Noboa hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. A collision led to Costa Rica getting a freekick after 6 minutes play. Aaron Alcocer hit a great ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 7th minute, Marcos Bizi managed to get in a good position for a shot. Chimborazo A.F.C's supporters rose to their feet, but Marcos Bizi was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Benito Sanz breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Marcos Bizi's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 9thth minute, Benito Sanz skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Benito Sanz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Samuel Oton in the 11th minute of play. The referee felt a red card was in order, 19 minutes into the game, when Efrain Moruga put in a rough tackle. In the 20th minute, Efrain Moruga hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 21st match minute, Costa Rica was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Aaron Alcocer to maneuver through the defense. Costa Rica's Benito Sanz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ernesto Pacifico in the 24th minute of play. The supporters of Chimborazo A.F.C booed when Costa Rica was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 25 match minutes in a wonderful position. Eliseo Noboa didn't get a good kick on the ball. The audience was convinced that Ernesto Pacifico's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Benito Sanz was relentless in the 28th minute of the game. Benito Sanz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Napoleon Wolnik in the 32nd minute of play. Marcos Bizi could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 40th minute of the match, but Benito Sanz made a huge save. Vladimiro Chuse came out of the goal in the 43rd minute to try and stop a shot by Costa Rica's Lautaro Puig. But to his dismay, Lautaro Puig quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. 47 minutes into the match, Ernesto Pacifico had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Benito Sanz. Costa Rica's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Ernesto Pacifico was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-2.

The wind increased when Eliseo Noboa made the kick off in the second half. 52 minutes into the game, one of Costa Rica:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. 56 minutes into the match, Aurelio Bernal had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Benito Sanz. Costa Rica's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Aurelio Bernal was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-2. Jacinto Vincent hit a great freekick 61 minutes into the match. If Aurelio Bernal had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 70th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 74 minutes into the game, Napoleon Wolnik cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 4-2. Benito Sanz was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Benito Sanz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Napoleon Wolnik, who was totally free with the ball in the 79th minute. After some careless play in the Costa Rica defense, Napoleon Wolnik kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Benito Sanz. The Costa Rica fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Benito Sanz should have stopped the shot. In the 87th minute Tiburcio Tello shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Benito Sanz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Aurelio Bernal in the 92nd minute of play forced Costa Rica's goalkeeper Benito Sanz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Benito Sanz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Aurelio Bernal in the 93rd minute of the match. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Chimborazo A.F.C had played much better football throughout.
