Marcos Rodrigues might have been able to make a better finish in the 26th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Jacobo Nores. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Jaime Pardo to make the kick off. Gianluigi Buffon showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Primitivo Escribano, who was totally free with the ball in the 78th minute. After some careless play in the Paraguay defense, Marcos Rodrigues kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Jacobo Nores. The Paraguay fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Jacobo Nores should have stopped the shot. The Apocalipse FC players were eager to celebrate when the final whistle sounded. They had somehow managed to win, even though the away team had held the majority of the possession.
