With a couple of smart ball manuevers Ronaldo Fenomeno in the 17th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Rolando Noboa saved Peru from getting behind. Julian Murillo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 20th minute. Charis Panaretos tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ronaldo Fenomeno sent away a hard shot on goal in the 26th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Peru's Rolando Noboa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ronaldo Fenomeno in the 26th minute of play. Charis Panaretos made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luz Tejedor in the 41st minute of play. Alonso Berganza kicked well hit freekick during the 46th minute of the match. If Ronaldo Fenomeno had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

Elpidio Selmo made in the 51st minute of the game a sloppy throw-in which Soloman Khomane however managed to control. If Ronaldo Fenomeno had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 52nd minute. When the referee ended the match the Peru players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
