Benito Sanz didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Serbülent Selmi went, in the 8th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. Vahap Atasoy came out of the goal in the 16th minute to try and stop a shot by Costa Rica's Lautaro Puig. But to his dismay, Lautaro Puig quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. The Costa Rica fans' excitement grew in the 19th match minute when Costa Rica's Axel Tasis looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-2 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Lautaro Puig received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 22nd minute. Vahap Atasoy tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The first half was very even, with the score at 3-3 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Alphan Ümit made a kick off. 50 minutes into the game, Efrain Moruga was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Costa Rica's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave тαçѕız кяαℓ gєяι ∂öηüуσя the free kick. In the 51st minute, Efrain Moruga hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 52nd minute of the match Yüksel Sağlamer shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Benito Sanz showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Mustafa Birol Algın hit a great freekick 54 minutes into the match. In the 59th match minute, тαçѕız кяαℓ gєяι ∂öηüуσя was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Arslan Asıf to maneuver through the defense. 62 minutes into the game, Abel Carballo was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Costa Rica had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
