Despite this Alfredo Otoniel quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. The audience was convinced that Luis Andino's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Alfredo Otoniel was relentless in the 27th minute of the game. In the 31st match minute, Ecuador was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Camilo Gisbert to maneuver through the defense. Cristian Sancho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 33rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alfredo Otoniel having to interfere. The supporters of Ecuador booed when PiCaNTeS FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 46 match minutes in a wonderful position. Celestino Libertad didn't get a good kick on the ball. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Daniel Zorita stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Thanks to some nice moves Cristian Sancho could shoot a difficult shot in the 52nd minute, which Alfredo Otoniel however easily saved by the left post. After 53 minutes PiCaNTeS FC's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Daniel Zorita who took care of the corner kick. Ecuador's Cristian Sancho got a good chance for a goal in the 57th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. PiCaNTeS FC's Alfredo Otoniel proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 59th minute of the match, managed to save PiCaNTeS FC from getting a goal against them. After 62 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Ecuador! Julio Vera had in the 63rdth minute some difficulties stopping Rodrigo De Paul's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. Alfredo Otoniel made a fantastic save in the 66th minute, when Daniel Zorita sent off a good shot on target. Ecuador's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Daniel Zorita in the 67th minute. In the 68th minute, Ecuador's Cristian Sancho ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Alfredo Otoniel. Alfredo Otoniel yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-3. Celestino Libertad hit a great freekick 72 minutes into the match. Daniel Zorita took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 72nd minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Alfredo Otoniel. PiCaNTeS FC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. The supporters of PiCaNTeS FC booed when Ecuador was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 75 match minutes in a wonderful position. Luis Andino didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 76th minute, Everardo Calvino managed to get in a good position for a shot. PiCaNTeS FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Everardo Calvino was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Julio Vera breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Ovidio Ignazio fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 79th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Julio Vera having to interfere. In the 82nd minute of the match Ecuador got a corner. PiCaNTeS FC's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Daniel Zorita ran over to the corner to take the kick. After some fancy dribbling in the 85th minute, Luis Andino managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ecuador's supporters rose to their feet, but Luis Andino was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Alfredo Otoniel breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. A collision led to Ecuador getting a freekick after 87 minutes play. Felix Montes hit a great ball. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Everardo Calvino, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When the match was over Ecuador could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than PiCaNTeS FC throughout the match.
