In the 15th minute the ball was on its way in behind Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 16th minute of the match Athletic Bostero got a corner. Ecuador's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Ralph Spaan ran over to the corner to take the kick. Athletic Bostero's Nicolas Tipi was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Julio Vera in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. 22 minutes into the match, Athletic Bostero's goal looked a bit too open when Agustín Saelices came free, but Cecilio Martinez reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Athletic Bostero's Gabriel Ioritz quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Primitivo Andino, made in the 24th minute of the game. Liu Yuan received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Julio Vera came out and tried to block the shot, but Liu Yuan slotted it home off the left post making it 2-0 in the 26th minute. Cecilio Martinez took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Felix Montenegro, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Cecilio Martinez made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Daniel Zorita in the 33rd minute of play. Liu Yuan could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 37th minute of the match, but Julio Vera made a huge save. A collision led to Ecuador getting a freekick after 40 minutes play. Primitivo Andino hit a great ball. In the 42nd minute, Jeremiah James hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 56th minute the ball was on its way in behind Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. When Liu Yuan came up free with the goalie in the 58th minute, the Athletic Bostero fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Liu Yuan couldn't finish the play.
