An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristian Sancho in the 6th minute of play forced Águilas Poblanas's goalkeeper Fabricio Stephen to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Fabricio Stephen stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Cristian Sancho's shot from short distance in the 6th minute. Fabricio Stephen showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Agustín Saelices in the 10th minute of the match. Águilas Poblanas's Fabricio Stephen played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniel Zorita in the 15th minute of play. The corner ended in Daniel Zorita almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Águilas Poblanas's Fabricio Stephen did a great save. In the 24th minute, Daniel Zorita got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After some careless play in the Águilas Poblanas defense, Luis Andino kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Fabricio Stephen. The Águilas Poblanas fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Fabricio Stephen should have stopped the shot. Sergio Arano hit a great freekick 32 minutes into the match. In the 33rd match minute, Águilas Poblanas was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Virgilio Guerau to maneuver through the defense. In the 39th minute, Cristian Sancho left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Ecuador fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. Águilas Poblanas's Fabricio Stephen played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniel Zorita in the 46th minute of play. The Águilas Poblanas players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Ecuador were winning 0-3.

The wind increased when Vicente Cordeara made the kick off in the second half. The audience thought a goal was coming when Cristian Sancho got free with Fabricio Stephen in the 55th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. If Cristian Sancho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 58th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a little luck, Águilas Poblanas's Fabricio Stephen got control of the ball when Daniel Zorita tried to sneak it across the goal line. Vicente Cordeara struck a weak shot in the 61st minute. Julio Vera didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Águilas Poblanas. 63 minutes into the match, Águilas Poblanas's goalkeeper Fabricio Stephen had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Daniel Zorita. In the 65th minute, Felix Montenegro ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Fabricio Stephen was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-4. 72 minutes into the game, Cristian Sancho recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Fabricio Stephen. Cristian Sancho showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 0-5. After having played for 76 minutes, Agustín Saelices managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Agustín Saelices was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Daniel Zorita fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 77th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fabricio Stephen having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Luis Andino in the 79th minute of play forced Águilas Poblanas's goalkeeper Fabricio Stephen to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Fabricio Stephen showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cristian Sancho, who was totally free with the ball in the 81st minute. Fabricio Stephen came out of the goal in the 81st minute to try and stop a shot by Ecuador's Cristian Sancho. But to his dismay, Cristian Sancho quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-6. Fabricio Stephen made a fantastic save in the 84th minute, when Agustín Saelices sent off a good shot on target. With a little luck, Águilas Poblanas's Fabricio Stephen got control of the ball when Agustín Saelices tried to sneak it across the goal line.
