The corner led Colo-Colo's Honorio Droguett to a score. 1-0 in the 7th minute. A hard shot 10 in the game by Rubén Martínez from a close distance when the talented Jacobo Nores managed to make a qualified save. Paraguay's players were relieved. Jacobo Nores showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Rubén Martínez in the 11th minute of the match. Honorio Droguett fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 14th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jacobo Nores having to interfere. Rubén Martínezs short, quick shot in the 16thth minute got Jacobo Nores to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Lalo Vilchez made in the 18th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Paraguay's Xavier Zoido. When the match had gone on for 19 minutes, Rubén Martínez took a quick shot and it went in 2-0 without a chance for Jacobo Nores to make any attempt to save it. Jacobo Nores didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Rubén Martínez went, in the 21st minute, to the upper right corner, 3-0 was the resulting score. Rubén Martínez might have been able to make a better finish in the 24th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Jacobo Nores. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Rubén Martínez did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 4-0 to the left of a surprised Jacobo Nores 26 minutes into the match. Tomislav Parev charged in rather forcefully in the 29th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Tomislav Parev the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 29th minute, Tomislav Parev hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 40 minutes into the game, Rubén Martínez cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 6-0. Jacobo Nores was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Jacobo Nores came out of the goal in the 44th minute to try and stop a shot by Colo-Colo's Carlitos Caszely. But to his dismay, Carlitos Caszely quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 7-0.

A very good chance. 67 minutes into the match, Honorio Droguett had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Jacobo Nores. Paraguay's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Honorio Droguett was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 8-0. Primitivo Escribano kicked well hit freekick during the 70th minute of the match. A collision led to Paraguay getting a freekick after 71 minutes play. Primitivo Escribano hit a great ball. After a rather tough play, Colo-Colo's Gonzalo Fierro got a free kick in the 77th minute. In the 81st match minute, Paraguay was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Xavier Zoido to maneuver through the defense. In the 82nd minute, Xavier Zoido hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Jacobo Nores made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Reinaldo Christie in the 83rd minute of play. Reinaldo Christie recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 87th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Jacobo Nores showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Reinaldo Christie, who was totally free with the ball in the 89th minute. Gonzalo Fierro kicked well hit freekick during the 93rd minute of the match. Hector Covarrubias could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 95th minute of the match, but Rambo Ramírez made a huge save. Paraguay's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
