The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Rubén Martínez sent away a hard shot on goal in the 6th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Ricardo Zorita made a fantastic save in the 6th minute, when Rubén Martínez sent off a good shot on target. Ricardo Zorita was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Rubén Martínez showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-0 in the 8 minute of play. In the 10th match minute, El Salvador was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Luis Rubio to maneuver through the defense. Rubén Martínez succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 2-0 in the 13th playminute. In the 16th minute the ball was on its way in behind El Salvador's goalkeeper Ricardo Zorita, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The crowd rose to their feet as Rubén Martínez kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Ricardo Zorita. That made the score 3-0 in the 19 minute of play. A collision led to El Salvador getting a freekick after 21 minutes play. Marco Tamayo hit a great ball. When the match had gone on for 22 minutes, Rubén Martínez put it in 4-0 from a short distance just to the right of Ricardo Zorita. If Rubén Martínez had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 32 minutes into the game, Rubén Martínez cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 5-0. Ricardo Zorita was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. A collision led to El Salvador getting a freekick after 36 minutes play. Joshua Curbelo hit a great ball. Ricardo Zorita showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Rubén Martínez in the 37th minute of the match. Rubén Martínez took the ball and in the 38 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Ricardo Zorita. Ricardo Zorita dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 6-0. Rubén Martínez sent away a hard shot on goal in the 42nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Ricardo Zorita didn't succeed to prevent the ball from going into goal when Colo-Colo's Rubén Martínez shot an unexpected shot in the crossbar's under edge and made 7-0 in the ordered_time% minute. Pablo Solari fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 47th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ricardo Zorita having to interfere.

After a rather tough play, El Salvador's Valentino Ferrant got a free kick in the 53rd minute. 54 minutes into the match, Rubén Martínez notched a goal, 8-0, to the right of El Salvador's Ricardo Zorita. Ricardo Zorita was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The throw-in from Luis Rubio in the 59th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Colo-Colo's Lalo Vilchez. After some fancy dribbling in the 61st minute, Rubén Martínez managed to get in a good position for a shot. Colo-Colo's supporters rose to their feet, but Rubén Martínez was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ricardo Zorita breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 63 minutes into the game, Rubén Martínez cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 9-0. Ricardo Zorita was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Ricardo Zorita came out of the goal in the 66th minute to try and stop a shot by Colo-Colo's Rubén Martínez. But to his dismay, Rubén Martínez quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 10-0. After 69 played minutes Colo-Colo got a freekick which was hit by Jerzy Smolak. Colo-Colo made a substitution. Ivo Basay replaced Rubén Martínez. In the 70th match minute, Colo-Colo was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jerzy Smolak to maneuver through the defense. The supporters of El Salvador booed when Colo-Colo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 73 match minutes in a wonderful position. Honorio Droguett didn't get a good kick on the ball. Colo-Colo's José Julio Almeida was substituted for Marco-Antonio Etcheverry. Colo-Colo's Carlitos Caszely was substituted for Pablo Solari. Honorio Droguett kicked well hit freekick during the 74th minute of the match. El Salvador's Ricardo Zorita played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Carlitos Caszely in the 76th minute of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Jesus Carvallo during the 78th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In a very dangerous position, a player in El Salvador fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 77th minute. Penalty! In the 79th minute there was a penalty for Colo-Colo. Honorio Droguett stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Ricardo Zorita. 11-0. When the match had gone on for 82 minutes, Ivo Basay put it in 12-0 from a short distance just to the right of Ricardo Zorita. 87 minutes into the match, El Salvador's goal looked a bit too open when Ivo Basay came free, but Ricardo Zorita reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Carlitos Caszely in the 88th minute of play forced El Salvador's goalkeeper Ricardo Zorita to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 88th minute Carlitos Caszely shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ricardo Zorita saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 90 minutes of play, Colo-Colo's Carlitos Caszely made it 13-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Ricardo Zorita was left in no man's land by his defense there! After 93 played minutes Colo-Colo got a freekick which was hit by Carlitos Caszely. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Colo-Colo fully deserved thier win.
