Gregorio Tirso blasted a shot towards the goal in the 30th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Marco Day having to make a save. Marco Day took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nicolas Sancho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Boquenses were awarded a corner in the 35th minute after USA's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Nicolas Sancho took the corner. A well-hit corner resulted in Rodrigo Ferdinand heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. Marco Day made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nicolas Sancho in the 40th minute of play. USA's Marco Day played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Feliciano Pancho in the 41st minute of play. In the 45th minute Gregorio Tirso shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Marco Day saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Rodrigo Ferdinand was the one to do the kick off.
