With a couple of smart ball manuevers Eldridge Marshall in the 19th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jonathan Ferrant saved Venezuela from getting behind. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tomas Illescas in the 20th minute of play forced los nadies's goalkeeper Camilo Isauro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 23 played minutes Venezuela got a freekick which was hit by Jose Correa. Patricio Costa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 27th minute. He walked away shaking his head. For all the effort they put into the match, the Venezuela players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense.
