In the 6th minute of the match Tomas Illescas sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Virgilio Pacifico skillfully saved the ball. With a little luck, Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant got control of the ball when Narciso Sindo tried to sneak it across the goal line. Narciso Sindo in the 9thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Jonathan Ferrant, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Patricio Rey Futbol Club's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Venezuela the free kick. A collision led to Patricio Rey Futbol Club getting a freekick after 25 minutes play. Orlando Cordeara hit a great ball. Virgilio Pacifico made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tomas Illescas in the 26th minute of play. Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 37th minute of the match, managed to save Venezuela from getting a goal against them. Patricio Costa kicked well hit freekick during the 38th minute of the match. After 41 played minutes Patricio Rey Futbol Club got a freekick which was hit by Carlos Benvide. A collision led to Patricio Rey Futbol Club getting a freekick after 43 minutes play. Aldo Blanco hit a great ball. The supporters of Patricio Rey Futbol Club booed when Venezuela was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 45 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jose Correa didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Jonathan Ferrant showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Narciso Sindo in the 60th minute of the match. After 61 minutes, Aldo Blanco mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Patricio Rey Futbol Club and the Venezuela players grew even worse after the yellow card. Aldo Blanco hit a great freekick 62 minutes into the match. In the 68th minute the ball was on its way in behind Patricio Rey Futbol Club's goalkeeper Virgilio Pacifico, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 69 minutes into the match, Venezuela's goal looked a bit too open when Narciso Sindo came free, but Jonathan Ferrant reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of Venezuela booed when Patricio Rey Futbol Club was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 73 match minutes in a wonderful position. Carlos Salvino didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 74th minute, Patricio Costa managed to get in a good position for a shot. Venezuela's supporters rose to their feet, but Patricio Costa was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. The referee gave Orlando Cordeara a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. Patricio Rey Futbol Club's Virgilio Pacifico played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Patricio Costa in the 86th minute of play. Saturnino Harri hit a great freekick 89 minutes into the match. Virgilio Pacifico made an important save on a dangerous shot by Tomas Illescas in the 91st minute. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
