Spectators: 39 (Terracing: 30, Seating: 9, VIP seats: 0) Ecuador's Daniel Zorita started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Cristian Sancho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 3rd minute. Virgilio Pacifico tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Virgilio Pacifico showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cristian Sancho, who was totally free with the ball in the 6th minute. Daniel Zorita received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 14th minute. Virgilio Pacifico tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 15 minutes, Teofilo Hustaz mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Patricio Rey Futbol Club and the Ecuador players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 15 played minutes Patricio Rey Futbol Club got a freekick which was hit by Teofilo Hustaz. Patricio Rey Futbol Club's Virgilio Pacifico played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luis Andino in the 16th minute of play. Teofilo Hustaz hit a great freekick 16 minutes into the match. In the 19th minute Narciso Sindo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Daniel Zorita in the 20th minute of play forced Patricio Rey Futbol Club's goalkeeper Virgilio Pacifico to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Cristian Sancho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. In the 41st minute, Agustín Saelices made a precise shot to the right of Virgilio Pacifico. Patricio Rey Futbol Club's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-1. Orlando Cordeara's late challenge caught a Ecuador's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

In the 51st match minute, Patricio Rey Futbol Club was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Albano Gasteiz to maneuver through the defense. Virgilio Pacifico was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Cristian Sancho showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-2 in the 52 minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Daniel Zorita got free with Virgilio Pacifico in the 55th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Patricio Rey Futbol Club's Virgilio Pacifico proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 59th minute of the match, managed to save Patricio Rey Futbol Club from getting a goal against them. Daniel Zorita could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 61st minute of the match, but Virgilio Pacifico made a huge save. The corner led Ecuador's Luis Andino to fire away a dangerous shot which Virgilio Pacifico despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. When Cristian Sancho came up free with the goalie in the 75th minute, the Ecuador fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Cristian Sancho couldn't finish the play. Virgilio Pacifico stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Cristian Sancho's shot from short distance in the 81st minute. 84 minutes had been played when some careless play by Patricio Rey Futbol Club's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Daniel Zorita was slow to take the kick. During this time Ecuador's players had a chance to rest. After taking down the ball on Ecuador's corner Felix Montenegro fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Virgilio Pacifico quite easily take care of the ball. Daniel Zorita had several of the Patricio Rey Futbol Club's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 87 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 1-3 score and a disappointed Virgilio Pacifico as he didn't even see the shot coming. 92 minutes into the game, Aldo Blanco cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-3. Julio Vera was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Felix Montenegro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 95th minute. Virgilio Pacifico tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When the match was over Ecuador could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Patricio Rey Futbol Club throughout the match.
