Los Payasitos's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Agustín Saelices was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. Ecuador's players were relieved. 29 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Ismael Barreto came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Cristian Sancho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 30th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Eduardo Coyences having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Ecuador's Cristian Sancho got a free kick in the 32nd minute. Thanks to some nice moves 顾笑源 could shoot a difficult shot in the 34th minute, which Julio Vera however easily saved by the left post. Joaquín Vásquez hit a great freekick 35 minutes into the match. 36 minutes into the match, Ecuador's Daniel Zorita sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Eduardo Coyences narrowly saved just below the crossbar. If 顾笑源 had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 39th minute, Ismael Barreto ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Julio Vera was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-2. In the 41st minute Ismael Barreto shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a little luck, Ecuador's Julio Vera got control of the ball when Luís Ceresso tried to sneak it across the goal line. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Los Payasitos's Eduardo Coyences proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 65th minute of the match, managed to save Los Payasitos from getting a goal against them. Eduardo Coyences made a fantastic save in the 69th minute, when Agustín Saelices sent off a good shot on target. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristian Sancho in the 72nd minute of play forced Los Payasitos's goalkeeper Eduardo Coyences to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Daniel Zorita came free with the goalkeeper in the 74th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Eduardo Coyences could save by the left post. After a rather tough play, Los Payasitos's Valério Matorin got a free kick in the 75th minute. Los Payasitos's Slim Lim was substituted for 邵伟坚. Valério Matorin hit a great freekick 77 minutes into the match. 81 minutes into the match, Los Payasitos's goalkeeper Eduardo Coyences had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Daniel Zorita.
