The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The audience was convinced that Yong Aldridge's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Ricardo Zorita was relentless in the 7th minute of the game. El Salvador's Moises Fernandino got a good chance for a goal in the 10th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Ricardo Zorita showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Yong Aldridge in the 15th minute of the match. Ricardo Zorita took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Yong Aldridge, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Moises Fernandino succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 1-0 in the 18th playminute. The supporters of El Salvador booed when Las Lomas Las was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 24 match minutes in a wonderful position. Richard Borden didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 29th minute Yong Aldridge shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ricardo Zorita saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Brian McCall received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 40th minute. Ricardo Zorita tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 48th match minute, El Salvador was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Moises Fernandino to maneuver through the defense. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Yong Aldridge stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Yong Aldridge came free with the goalkeeper in the 55th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Ricardo Zorita could save by the left post. Ricardo Zorita made a fantastic save in the 57th minute, when Yong Aldridge sent off a good shot on target. After a rather tough play, Las Lomas Las's Richard Borden got a free kick in the 58th minute. Ricardo Zorita showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Brian McCall, who was totally free with the ball in the 61st minute. After having played for 62 minutes, Moises Fernandino managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. El Salvador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Moises Fernandino was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Yong Aldridge in the 71st minute of play forced El Salvador's goalkeeper Ricardo Zorita to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 76 minutes had been played when some careless play by Las Lomas Las's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Mateo Leguizamo was slow to take the kick. During this time El Salvador's players had a chance to rest. After taking down the ball on El Salvador's corner Mateo Leguizamo fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Paul Montoya quite easily take care of the ball. Ricardo Zorita was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Yong Aldridge showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-1 in the 78 minute of play. Ricardo Zorita was out of position in the 82 minute of play, and Yong Aldridge capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Yong Aldridge really showed his touch with that goal: 1-2. Moises Fernandino fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 85th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Paul Montoya having to interfere. In the 91st minute, Brian McCall fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Ricardo Zorita, passed just outside the right post. After a rather tough play, El Salvador's Mateo Leguizamo got a free kick in the 96th minute. When the final whistle sounded Las Lomas Las left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than El Salvador.
