When Efrain Moruga fell near the penalty area in the 18th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Costa Rica's protests and gave Efrain Moruga a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Costa Rica getting a freekick after 18 minutes play. The Costa Rica players were eager to celebrate when the final whistle sounded. They had somehow managed to win, even though the away team had held the majority of the possession.
