Axel Tasis charged in rather forcefully in the 3rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Axel Tasis the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 5th minute, Harvey Flynn got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After a rather tough play, Costa Rica's Efrain Moruga got a free kick in the 8th minute. Patrick Fontenot kicked well hit freekick during the 10th minute of the match. 14 minutes into the match, Cosmos Soccer Club's Nicky Cavazos sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Benito Sanz narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Costa Rica's Benito Sanz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nicky Cavazos in the 19th minute of play. After 20 played minutes Costa Rica got a freekick which was hit by Efrain Moruga. Benito Sanz didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Nicky Cavazos went, in the 26th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. Shawn Romero sent away a hard shot on goal in the 34th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Axel Tasis stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The supporters of Costa Rica booed when Cosmos Soccer Club was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 54 match minutes in a wonderful position. Marcus Rush didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 55 minutes of play, Costa Rica's Lautaro Puig made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Jarrett Rosenberg was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 59th minute, Patrick Fontenot got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 61 minutes, Aaron Alcocer mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Costa Rica and the Cosmos Soccer Club players grew even worse after the yellow card. 64 minutes into the match, Cosmos Soccer Club's goal looked a bit too open when Axel Tasis came free, but Jarrett Rosenberg reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 65 minutes into the game, Donovan Heath was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Cosmos Soccer Club's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Costa Rica the free kick. After 65 played minutes Cosmos Soccer Club got a freekick which was hit by Donovan Heath. In the 67th minute Eliseo Noboa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jarrett Rosenberg saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Costa Rica's Benito Sanz proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 70th minute of the match, managed to save Costa Rica from getting a goal against them. The supporters of Costa Rica booed when Cosmos Soccer Club was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 73 match minutes in a wonderful position. Marcus Rush didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 74th minute, Eliseo Noboa got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Nicky Cavazos came free with the goalkeeper in the 81st minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Benito Sanz could save by the left post. Robustiano Amor hit a great freekick 83 minutes into the match. Cosmos Soccer Club's Jarrett Rosenberg played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lautaro Puig in the 87th minute of play. Axel Tasis fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 89th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jarrett Rosenberg having to interfere. In the 92nd minute, Nicky Cavazos ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Benito Sanz was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-3. Cosmos Soccer Club's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
