A collision led to Venezuela getting a freekick after 4 minutes play. Rigoberto Mina hit a great ball. If Bautista Quintero had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 7th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. If Tomas Illescas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 10th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Tomas Illescas might have been able to make a better finish in the 11th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Roch Orszak. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Tomas Illescas ran back to his position shaking his head. 11 minutes into the match, Esporte Clube Pilar's goal looked a bit too open when Tomas Illescas came free, but Roch Orszak reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 16 minutes into the match, Venezuela's goal looked a bit too open when Yan Zonta came free, but Jonathan Ferrant reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Tomas Illescas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Claudinho Ramalho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 24th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jonathan Ferrant having to interfere. Jonathan Ferrant made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Yan Zonta in the 28th minute of play. Roch Orszak showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Patricio Costa in the 32nd minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Venezuela's Camilo Gaos got a free kick in the 36th minute. Jonathan Ferrant was out of position in the 37 minute of play, and Yan Zonta capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Yan Zonta really showed his touch with that goal: 2-0. Yan Zonta received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 41st minute. Jonathan Ferrant tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 43 minutes into the match, Venezuela's goal looked a bit too open when Yan Zonta came free, but Jonathan Ferrant reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Esporte Clube Pilar were awarded a corner in the 45th minute after Venezuela's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Bautista Quintero took the corner. The corner led Esporte Clube Pilar's Bautista Quintero to fire away a dangerous shot which Jonathan Ferrant despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

After some fancy dribbling in the 50th minute, Claudinho Ramalho managed to get in a good position for a shot. Esporte Clube Pilar's supporters rose to their feet, but Claudinho Ramalho was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jonathan Ferrant breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 62 minutes into the match, Venezuela's goal looked a bit too open when Yan Zonta came free, but Jonathan Ferrant reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Bautista Quintero received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 68th minute.
