Monty Rogers recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 12th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Vítor Baia made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Monty Rogers in the 17th minute of play. Monty Rogers fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Vítor Baia having to interfere. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Laurențiu Roşculeţ during the 29th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Brugge United getting a freekick after 29 minutes play. Laurențiu Roşculeţ hit a great ball. 32 minutes into the match, Arnauld Van Impe notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of USA's Marco Day. Marco Day was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After a rather tough play, Brugge United's Percy da Fonseca got a free kick in the 35th minute. 36 minutes into the game, USA's Monty Rogers nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Vítor Baia made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. Vítor Baia showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Monty Rogers, who was totally free with the ball in the 39th minute. After a rather tough play, Brugge United's Jaspar Van Den Broeck got a free kick in the 43rd minute. With a little luck, Brugge United's Vítor Baia got control of the ball when Cassius Byrne tried to sneak it across the goal line. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-1 at half-time.

Vítor Baia was left in no man's land by his defense there! 70 minutes into the game, USA's Sam Campbell nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Vítor Baia made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 4-1. 74 minutes into the game, Raphael Moore threw the ball into play from the sideline. Brugge United's Laurențiu Roşculeţ quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. Marco Day showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Goffrey Sas, who was totally free with the ball in the 75th minute. Vítor Baia took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sam Campbell, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 80 minutes into the match, Sam Campbell had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Vítor Baia. Brugge United's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Sam Campbell was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 5-1. USA were awarded a corner in the 86th minute after Brugge United's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Jenson Smith took the corner. Jenson Smith made a great header on USA's corner, it was just that Brugge United's Vítor Baia managed to reach the ball for a save.
