Marco Day showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jamey Hankins in the 11th minute of the match. In the 13th minute Gracie Barra were awarded a corner. Şamil Sağman went to the cornerflag to take it. 16 minutes into the match, Gracie Barra's 周挺勇 sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Marco Day narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Gracie Barra's Falcão Cunha proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 19th minute of the match, managed to save Gracie Barra from getting a goal against them. USA were awarded a corner in the 20th minute after Gracie Barra's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Cassius Byrne took the corner. USA's Cassius Byrne was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Falcão Cunha in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. When USA's Cassius Byrne in the 22nd minute got a chance for a shot 22nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Gracie Barra's goalie prevented a goal. Augusto Saldanha's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Marco Day read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 26th minute of play. Falcão Cunha showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Monty Rogers, who was totally free with the ball in the 30th minute. Augusto Saldanha's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Marco Day read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 34th minute of play. Gracie Barra's Falcão Cunha played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cassius Byrne in the 36th minute of play. Marco Day showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Augusto Saldanha, who was totally free with the ball in the 43rd minute. Augusto Saldanha might have been able to make a better finish in the 47th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Marco Day. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Augusto Saldanha ran back to his position shaking his head. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Pedro Velloso was the one to do the kick off. Falcão Cunha made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Monty Rogers in the 60th minute of play. After 63 minutes, Roland Danielsson mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Gracie Barra and the USA players grew even worse after the yellow card. Roland Danielsson kicked well hit freekick during the 63rd minute of the match. In the 65th minute of the match Cassius Byrne sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Falcão Cunha skillfully saved the ball. After a defensive mix-up in USA's zone, Augusto Saldanha stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Marco Day came out of the goal and Augusto Saldanha tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. USA's Sam Campbell was substituted for Cassius Byrne. Gracie Barra's Hugo de Queirós was substituted for Jamey Hankins. Falcão Cunha took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Monty Rogers, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sam Campbell in the 78th minute of play forced Gracie Barra's goalkeeper Falcão Cunha to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. USA's Marco Day played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Emanuel de Lara in the 80th minute of play. If Thiago Silvan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 84th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. USA made a substitution. Marco Baker replaced Edward Mcdonald. USA's Khalid Parry was substituted for Monty Rogers. When Sam Campbell came up free with the goalie in the 87th minute, the USA fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Sam Campbell couldn't finish the play. Emanuel de Lara could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 92nd minute of the match, but Marco Day made a huge save. The corner went over the outstretched arms of USA's goalie and right to Thiago Silvan. He fired away a shot at goal, but the shot had too much spin, and it went just outside the goal. USA's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. Rubens Rezende hit a great freekick 95 minutes into the match. Khalid Parry scored 1-0 in the 97th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Falcão Cunha, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot.
