Cristian Sancho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 10th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Birila Graña having to interfere. In the 11th minute the ball was on its way in behind Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Birila Graña didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Daniel Zorita went, in the 15th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. Camilo Gisbert made in the 17th minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Luis Andino. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Maurinho Mendonça, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Claretiano FC's Birila Graña played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniel Zorita in the 20th minute of play. Birila Graña showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Daniel Zorita, who was totally free with the ball in the 20th minute. In the 23rd minute, Qu Lei Chang got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Qu Lei Chang struck a weak shot in the 26th minute. Julio Vera didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Claretiano FC. It seemed to be an obvious goal in the 26th minute, but Julio Vera got his fingers on the ball or the save, leaving Ecuador hanging dry this time. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Maurinho Mendonça received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Julio Vera came out and tried to block the shot, but Maurinho Mendonça slotted it home off the left post making it 1-1 in the 33rd minute. Birila Graña made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Daniel Zorita in the 36th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Daniel Zorita in the 37th minute of play forced Claretiano FC's goalkeeper Birila Graña to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 38th minute, Claretiano FC's Maurinho Mendonça ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Julio Vera. Julio Vera yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-1. Birila Graña took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Daniel Zorita, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Tiadoro Folguera fell near the penalty area in the 47th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Claretiano FC's protests and gave Tiadoro Folguera a yellow card for diving instead. After 48 played minutes Claretiano FC got a freekick which was hit by Tiadoro Folguera. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-1 at half-time.

The wind increased when Daniel Zorita made the kick off in the second half. In the 55th minute, Felix Montenegro got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Cristian Sancho came free with the goalkeeper in the 58th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Birila Graña could save by the left post. Daniel Zorita's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 66thth minute, Birila Graña skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. In the 73rd minute Cristian Sancho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Birila Graña saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Claretiano FC's Benigno Viñal was substituted for Norino Tostado. Claretiano FC made a substitution. Gelacio Salceda replaced Qu Lei Chang. 77 minutes had been played when some careless play by Ecuador's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Benigno Viñal was slow to take the kick. During this time Claretiano FC's players had a chance to rest. The corner went over the outstretched arms of Ecuador's goalie and right to Harkaitz Xavalera. He fired away a shot at goal, but the shot had too much spin, and it went just outside the goal. Ecuador's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. Felix Montenegros short, quick shot in the 80thth minute got Birila Graña to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Claretiano FC's Birila Graña proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 83rd minute of the match, managed to save Claretiano FC from getting a goal against them. Daniel Zorita's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Birila Graña read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 88th minute of play. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Maurinho Mendonça, who was totally free with the ball in the 91st minute. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Maurinho Mendonça in the 96th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Julio Vera prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Many of Ecuador's supporters were seen to leave the ground early as it became clear their team was going to lose. Ecuador may have spent more time on the ball, but Claretiano FC were more willing to take their chances and they walked away with the win.
