In the 4th minute the ball was on its way in behind Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Maurinho Mendonça sent away a hard shot on goal in the 6th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. With a little luck, Ecuador's Julio Vera got control of the ball when Maurinho Mendonça tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 7th minute, Norino Tostado got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 10 minutes of play, Ecuador's Agustín Saelices made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Birila Graña was left in no man's land by his defense there! The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-2 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. In the 19th minute Daniel Zorita shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Birila Graña saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-2 lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Daniel Zorita stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Ruben Malta's late challenge caught a Ecuador's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ruben Malta helped the player get up and apologised. After 53 played minutes Ecuador got a freekick which was hit by Camilo Gisbert. In the 58th minute, Norino Tostado made a precise shot to the right of Julio Vera. Ecuador's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-2. 62 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Maurinho Mendonça came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Birila Graña showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristian Sancho in the 63rd minute of the match. Camilo Gisbert kicked well hit freekick during the 64th minute of the match. Ecuador were unable to convert their possession into goals, allowing Claretiano FC to leave the ground with a draw.
