When Alkan Özil fell near the penalty area in the 43rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Stylus United's protests and gave Alkan Özil a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Stylus United getting a freekick after 43 minutes play. Alkan Özil hit a great ball. In the 46th minute, Alkan Özil hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Daniel Zorita stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 54 minutes into the game, Carlos Fernando Albuquerque was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Stylus United's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Ecuador the free kick.
