In the 38th minute, Tomas Illescas got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The supporters of Teddy Team booed when Venezuela was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 42 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alex Chicote didn't get a good kick on the ball. Diego Marinelli blasted a shot towards the goal in the 44th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Jonathan Ferrant having to make a save. In the 46th minute, Emanuele Festuccia hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Amos Iovine didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Venezuela. Federico Canzano's late challenge caught a Venezuela's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Amos Iovine didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Patricio Costa went, in the 92nd minute, to the upper right corner, 2-0 was the resulting score. Jonathan Ferrant showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Flavio Gargano in the 96th minute of the match. The Venezuela support was delighted with a win in a match that could easily have ended differently.
