San Lorenzo 11's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Mexico the free kick. After 11 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for San Lorenzo 11! The referee gave Mexico a penalty, 12 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Joel Gaona, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of San Lorenzo 11's Aurelio Astudillo. 0-1. The audience thought a goal was coming when Claudio Bucciarelli got free with Dante Lacasa in the 15th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 16 minutes into the match, San Lorenzo 11's goal looked a bit too open when Lautaro Mancebo came free, but Aurelio Astudillo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Facundo Cadaval sent away a hard shot on goal in the 20th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When the match had gone on for 24 minutes, Claudio Bucciarelli put it in 1-1 from a short distance just to the right of Dante Lacasa. Boğaç Altuncuoğlu struck a weak shot in the 34th minute. Dante Lacasa didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for San Lorenzo 11. Boğaç Altuncuoğlu's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Dante Lacasa read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 36th minute of play. Aurelio Astudillo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alberto Tafalla in the 39th minute of the match. Dante Lacasa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Boğaç Altuncuoğlu, who was totally free with the ball in the 40th minute. Mexico's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Joel Gaona in the 45th minute.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Joel Gaona to strike the kick off in the second half. Aurelio Astudillo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alberto Tafalla in the 52nd minute of play. In the 57th minute of the match Mexico got a corner. San Lorenzo 11's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Joel Gaona ran over to the corner to take the kick. Alberto Tafalla could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 59th minute of the match, but Aurelio Astudillo made a huge save. Joel Gaona fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 60th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Aurelio Astudillo having to interfere. Boğaç Altuncuoğlu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 75th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dante Lacasa having to interfere. San Lorenzo 11's Santiago Sidro was substituted for Claudio Bucciarelli. When the match had gone on for 80 minutes, Lautaro Mancebo took a quick shot and it went in 1-2 without a chance for Aurelio Astudillo to make any attempt to save it. Santiago Sidro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 83rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dante Lacasa having to interfere. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Mexico would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
