After 14 minutes of play, Scarface's Herminio Abeitia made it 3-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Chucho Dean was left in no man's land by his defense there! After a rather tough play, Astillero del Guayas's Arnoldo Bazquez got a free kick in the 18th minute. Astillero del Guayas's Chucho Dean proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 22nd minute of the match, managed to save Astillero del Guayas from getting a goal against them. 28 minutes into the match, Astillero del Guayas's goal looked a bit too open when Fabián Marcos came free, but Chucho Dean reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 35th minute, Scarface's Fabián Marcos ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Chucho Dean. Chucho Dean yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 5-0. After having played for 37 minutes, Dario Rito managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Scarface's supporters crossed their fingers, but Dario Rito was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Scarface's Felice Fiore played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Paiva Escabi in the 39th minute of play. A collision led to Scarface getting a freekick after 43 minutes play. Marcelo Escobar hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gustavo Oro in the 44th minute of play forced Scarface's goalkeeper Felice Fiore to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 5-0.

Chucho Dean took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dario Rito, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ximun Tocos's late challenge caught a Scarface's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Rogelio Cordarrol took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 68th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Chucho Dean.
