The audience thought a goal was coming when Dorian Moraes got free with Yuri da Cunha in the 15th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After some careless play in the Marquês de Herval defense, Abel de Godoi kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Dida Taffarel. The Marquês de Herval fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Dida Taffarel should have stopped the shot. Dida Taffarel came out of the goal in the 22nd minute to try and stop a shot by Olivedos's Abel de Godoi. But to his dismay, Abel de Godoi quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. 32 minutes into the match, Alfredo Martins dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Yuri da Cunha, 1-2. Luís Novaes hit a great freekick 40 minutes into the match. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-2.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Alfredo Martins to make the kick off. In the 56th match minute, Olivedos was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rubinho Chaves to maneuver through the defense. Yuri da Cunha showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alfredo Martins, who was totally free with the ball in the 63rd minute. Marquês de Herval's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Moussa Kabre in the 64th minute. A nice corner shot did that Moussa Kabre got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Yuri da Cunha quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dorian Moraes in the 66th minute of play forced Olivedos's goalkeeper Yuri da Cunha to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Marquês de Herval's Dorian Moraes got a good chance for a goal in the 69th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Yuri da Cunha showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dorian Moraes, who was totally free with the ball in the 74th minute. In the 76th minute, Abel de Godoi left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Olivedos fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-3. Alfredo Martins blasted a shot towards the goal in the 79th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Yuri da Cunha having to make a save.
