With a left leg Juliano Brito saved Spartak das Kaldas from getting behind. In the 43rd match minute, Costa Rica was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Juan Rubio to maneuver through the defense. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Axel Tasis was the one to do the kick off. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Benito Sanz showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Pedro Meira who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 68thth minute tested the skills of Benito Sanz when he managed to save the team from getting behind. After a rather tough play, Spartak das Kaldas's Vítor Ramires got a free kick in the 80th minute. Ilídio Valério struck a weak shot in the 83rd minute. Benito Sanz didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Spartak das Kaldas. After 85 minutes of play, Spartak das Kaldas's Pedro Meira made it 0-4 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Benito Sanz was left in no man's land by his defense there! Abel Carballo hit a great freekick 89 minutes into the match. After recieving a nice pass, Spartak das Kaldas's Ademar Lima tried to score from far away in the 90th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. Spartak das Kaldas played a much better game than Costa Rica and deserved their victory. The Costa Rica players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
