After having played for 4 minutes, Tomas Illescas managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Venezuela's supporters crossed their fingers, but Tomas Illescas was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Tomas Illescas received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 9th minute. Mariusz Mielak tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Mariusz Mielak showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tomas Illescas in the 13th minute of the match. Borys Dzerwucki got a throw-in 28 minutes in the game and the ball was received by Ludomir Barowicz. Mariusz Mielak took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tomas Illescas, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 40 minutes in the game Guillermo Mariano did a throw-in, and the ball was quickly in game thanks to Tomas Illescas. CWKS Legia's Antoni Parzysz got a good chance for a goal in the 43rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 45th minute Tomas Illescas shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mariusz Mielak saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some careless play in the Venezuela defense, Ludomir Barowicz kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Jonathan Ferrant. The Venezuela fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Jonathan Ferrant should have stopped the shot. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Jonathan Ferrant showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Antoni Parzysz, who was totally free with the ball in the 54th minute. Tomas Illescas scored 2-2 in the 65th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Mariusz Mielak, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 70th minute Patricio Costa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mariusz Mielak saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jonathan Ferrant stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Antoni Parzysz's shot from short distance in the 77th minute. Mariusz Mielak was a little too slow when Tomas Illescas got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 81st minute. The score was now 2-3. CWKS Legia's Barnaba Bilicki was substituted for Borys Dzerwucki. Jonathan Ferrant stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Antoni Parzysz's shot from short distance in the 87th minute. Tomas Illescas's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Mariusz Mielak firmly grabbed it by the left post. CWKS Legia made a substitution. Sylwester Kociniewski replaced Witomir Kaczeniak. 93 minutes into the game, Edgar Zabrzeski was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. CWKS Legia's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Venezuela the free kick. A collision led to CWKS Legia getting a freekick after 93 minutes play. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
