In the 26th minute, Silvio Abadia got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 30 minutes into the match, Daniel Zorita notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of Belgrano de Pibasog's Bernardo Raggio. Bernardo Raggio was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 74th minute the ball was on its way in behind Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Belgrano de Pibasog made a substitution. Iulian Ilinca replaced Judas Verón. Ecuador were awarded a corner in the 78th minute after Belgrano de Pibasog's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Daniel Zorita took the corner. Iulian Ilinca might have been able to make a better finish in the 83rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Julio Vera. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out.
